IF ONLY SOMEONE TOLD US
IF ONLY SOMEONE TOLD US
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours…if you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost’ that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” - Henry David Thoreau
We are the creators of our own reality. We have the power to produce, direct, cast, orchestrate and star in our own Universal Broadway play. And we have been doing this for 99% of our life.
Most of us have had no idea that this magic of creation has always existed within us. Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz…she was always able to go home by clicking her heels together however she had to experience many challenges before she was able to give herself that freedom.
Think about this:
No one really told us we could think for ourselves in the way that is generated from our heart/intimate place of Knowing; no one has really shared when to start listening with a light touch to others as to how we are to BE and discern for ourself what is right for us; no one really shared that this advice was originated from those who feel that they are here to tell us what is right and wrong from a place of control; no one really told us that…“Around the age of seven, give or take a year, children enter a developmental phase known as the age of reason. “The age of reason refers to the developmental cognitive, emotional, and moral stage in which children become more capable of rational thought, have internalized a conscience, and have a better capacity to control impulses (than in previous stages),” explains Dana Dorfman, PhD, psychotherapist, and co-host of the podcast 2 Moms on the Couch.
I’m certainly not saying that we are not to be helped and guided by parents and mentors who are mostly well-meaning to help us evolve into respectful and loving beings. However, we have been slow to learn how to access this gift of sheer knowing; to celebrate, trust and honor our intuition (higher knowing) to the full extent of its amazing usefulness.
There comes a time when we have needed permission to fend for ourselves but the ‘others’ unfortunately are not so adept in doing this for themselves. With a consciousness filled with fear and doubt due to the messages we have been told through thousands of years about who we are supposed to be, how do we go about discarding the perceived safety nets that have been all-encompassing up until this moment? We find ourselves literally scratching our heads not being sure which path to take or that there even is one available to us.
We come in alone, we go out alone. We are not like anyone else on this planet of 8 billion people. We have a different operating system with which we have been gifted to use to answer the question, “Who am I.” No one can answer this for us as it’s for us to discover and the only way to unravel the intricate threads that have us bound in the image of a spider’s web is up to us alone.
