Even if you haven't written a book
I enjoy the holidays especially since it is about the only time that I allow myself to take the speed of my high energy noisy brain from a very high volume to soft and meditative. It turns out that these moments are so beneficial for my peace of mind however I must remember to raise the volume again when the dust has settled.
Hence today while still in between my off and on switch I have had to push to get a blog done and sent to my tech person who is in the land down under (Australia). And I’m not ready.
Humm, what else can I do to avoid the inevitable…Amazon anyone? Clean the litter box? Water plants? I know better than to turn on Netflix and finish my last binge.
So while dusting; yes I found a deterrent, I saw my book that I used to do a blog series for you all on breast cancer in October and thought “Why not share some more wisdom and self-help tips as they are itching to be heard and used!”
I love self-help books, but they can get a bit redundant, so I have found that when in doubt, set your intention for what information you want, flip through the pages and stop where and when it feels right. And it for the most part always is right.
And since I have been writing about change and growth and to-dos for a year now with my blogs and videos on Instagram (Pls put my Instagram handle here) while sharing with my co-host Charlie Lowe on WinWinWomen.com I thought this short passage may jump start any reluctance in stepping up and out especially with a new year upon us.
Excerpt from Over 40 Fit and Fab chapter named THE LEDGE.
“I’ve been at the ledge many times in the past and I know that I will be there again in the future. In my mind I see myself standing on the side of a mountain overlooking the world. As I look out I am cognizant that I have been in this same exact place many times before with similar fears and using the exact same excuses, anxieties and justifications playing like a broken record in what seems at that moment to be a very confined mind.
Now, we have two choices when we are standing on The Ledge. We can either gather up our inner strength and authentic voice and leap, trusting that we will land safely, leaving behind the dishonest comfort of our rut and filling our lungs with new, fresh air while we nourish our minds with clear and refreshed possibilities; or we can stand on the ledge and wait for the tempest of fears, doubts, hopelessness and stress to die down (and they always do) and rest against the mountain for a few more weeks until they swirl up again (and they always do).
Everything in life goes in cycles. It is sort of a universal law that if you don’t take responsibility for addressing the prominent and dominant issues in your life they will continue to confront you with annoying regularity and escalating impact until you do. My friend and past therapist, Geoffrey, told me that at one time or another we all become too big for the pond we’re swimming in and if we don’t decide on our own to swim away and find a bigger pond, then the universe will force us to move in a way that might not be to our liking.
So you can continue to put aside that idea, that dream, that itch that needs to be scratched, that yearning for a change that has been simmering inside you for who knows how many years, but know that it will continue to make periodic appearances until you decide to face it head on and step off of The Ledge into a new and more fascinating chapter in your world.”
The following declaration is one that you may want to keep in the front of your mind as I have found it useful when standing on the ledge. (Courtesy of The Virtual Event Blueprint by Sage).
It goes like this:
YOU CAN DO THIS?
I NEED TO DO THIS.
I WILL DO THIS.
I’M CRAZY NOT TO DO THIS.
I AM DOING THIS!
To your brilliance unfolding,
P.S.
