It's that time again, part 5

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN PART 5…HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR STORY TO TURN OUT?

And this little story from many years ago ended like this:

The family in the covered wagon were racing as fast as they could from the bad guys that were wanting to rob them.  They went off the trail thinking they could lose their potential capturers only to find that they were closing in on the edge of the mountain.  They tried to pull back on the horses but it was too late.  The wagon, the horses and all fell to their death.  The End.

Or did they?

Okay it was kind of a weak story ending but I was only in 8th grade!  But for some reason this story has entered my mind more times that I have felt necessary over the years and I believe I finally came to the conclusion that just because all arrows seemingly point downward that the story doesn’t always turn out with a dreaded outcome. Life is full of a plethora of scenarios where what we think is the end, simply isn’t. When I started my cancer journey I certainly went to the dark place of falling to my death but with time and awareness; with prayers and optimism; with hope and the love of life the edge of my mountain has simply become a place to pause, reflect and move up and forward.

Epilogue:

“This cancer experience taught me that our lives are filled with choices and opportunities whether we choose to acknowledge them and do something with them or take no action at all. As I asked myself how I wanted to live my life going forward the answer was a resounding call for abundance and joy and to pay attention to the signposts, manageable or challenging, that would come my way in the future. I became very clear that there is a gift/prize awaiting us at ever turn in the road called living.  If I am to be fully present in this life and live with no regrets, I needed to use and relish all the wisdom afforded me and focus to stay very conscious not to squander valuable time.

I acknowledge that if I continued to disregard my well-being by continuing the habits that were likely some of the contributors to the onset of my cancer, (like being in judgment, fear, jealousy, envy and insecurity) then I would not be able to accomplish this goal of being of service to myself and the world. If I wanted to continue to be stressed and to see my body react in a negative way, then I would always stay in a place of being small and disempowered. At the end of the day, I had to ask myself just how the way I had been living my life in the past served me. The answer of course was that it absolutely didn’t and that in itself said it all.

Since all of this happened, I have moved forward, placing myself at the top of my list and to this day I have never looked back with regret. I have learned to take responsibility for my fears, allow them to be my teachers and to comfort myself while in the process of finding myself in the midst of uneasiness because I now know I am a brilliant survivor. I made my choice. I chose my life and how I wanted to show up for it. I am committed to living it fully. And because of this, those around me have reaped the benefits of my increased capacity for love, joy and life. My cup truly runneth over...and so can yours.  Let me share with you some proof positive ways.” OVER 40 FIT AND FAB.
