IN BABE’S WORLD

IN BABE’S WORLD

Remember to keep reading and scrolling into the P.S. section for information on our Fridays show!

In the final shot of the movie “Babe” James Cromwell looked down at Babe and said, “That’ll do pig.  That’ll do.”

In this scenario it meant that Babe can now let-go as he has accomplished his dream.  Of course it has other meanings for each of us.  For the star of the movie, James Cromwell these two lines meant that he was finally “seen” by his father with whom he had a contentious relationship when alive and now felt vindicated and free.

Then there’s finding that next project that looks as though it will satisfy all the bells and whistles on your list as you head into new discovery.

Lastly it could be that you have exhausted all possibilities and it’s time to move on to something better.

Question for you is what is your “That’ll do” and what’s your story behind it?

I was speaking with a friend the other day and she’s getting ready to wrap up a 35-year successful career in sales.  When I asked her what it looks like for her once she’s signed on the bottom line of this part of her life story her response was “That’s the problem, I don’t know!  I guess I’ll wait for it to fall into my lap!”

My coaching response, as usual went to the ‘make a list of what you love to do’ etc. (Its tuff being a Fixer all my life).  Her come back to me was silence (Yes, I sometimes get this too) and then she was compelled to say that she always makes a list of what she likes and what she doesn’t like about such and such.

At this I shut up because she just wanted to vent and wasn’t ready for any help and a lot of people find themselves here…some unfortunately are in this place forever.

I have on numerous occasions written blogs with noting steps to help one focus on the who, what, where and why we are and how to push through your safety box to create something new.  Whether you take any of this advice is a vast unknown but what is a fact is that you are the maker of your inner/outer life and in order to have some semblance of order you cannot allow and wait for the outer world to do a lap plop because it may not be what you want and you’ll take it because it’s easy.  I have done this move on occasion which is why at this time in my life I worked on my future vision.

You the magic of who you are.  Whether you are planning to let go of something some months from now; if your thoughts of ‘what am I going to do’ stop in for you to make a mental note investigate now!  Using the famous line from ‘Gone with The Wind’ Scarlett Ohara proclaims “I can’t think about it now if I do I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about it tomorrow” which may have been plausible in her time but in today’s world if one doesn’t think about it NOW they will be driven crazy with the procrastination.

  • Become your own coach and use Heartfelt Listening on yourself. “Heartfelt listening is to give our whole attention to that which seeks to awaken our sympathetic emotions, move us away from our self-absorption, and make us aware that we are part of something bigger than our own preoccupations. Heartfelt listening pays attention to the whole of life: Hear yourself”.

Need some guidance with any of this? Well at this very moment I am listening to my inner critic that says it’s important to remind you that my being a coach is by far the most rewarding and inspiring “job” I have ever had and the love of being of service is priceless.

P.S. This Friday on our Live show IMAGINE SOMETHING BETTER on WinWinWomen.tv we’ll be doing Part 3 of Aging in America and we look forward to your LIVE participation.  Answer questions like “How do I get off the couch and do something purposeful?”  “What is it that I need to do to keep myself feeling fresh and vibrant?” “I’m retired.  Why should I have to do anything?”
