HAVE YOU DONE YOUR ABC’S TODAY?

HAVE YOU DONE YOUR ABC’S TODAY?

REMEMBER TO SCROLL DOWN PAST P.S. TO FIND OUT INFORMATION ON OUR LIVE SHOW TODAY!

We are all hearing about how beneficial it is to sit and list/journal/post-it/write about the things in life for which we are grateful, right?

I know for myself that journaling isn’t my favorite thing to do however when I give myself a nudge I’m off and running with thoughts of the day. However, when I do write about gratefulness, I have found that I run into a bit of redundancy after a while.  Sound familiar?

It’s so helpful to get our thoughts out of our minds and on a piece of paper…it makes it/them more real and writing them down allows us to  SEE what we are thinking.  (As you know if we simply give pause to a thought it will soon get lost in the cacophony of the other 69,999 thoughts that we venture into every day.)

A therapist friend of mine just today shared an exercise that a client of hers is doing with gratefulness using the alphabet. Simply, A equals ?, B equals? all the way through to Z.  I immediately sat down and “gave it a go” and am delighted to say the results were interesting, fun, and even a bit challenging! ie. ‘artistic’ for A, ‘healthy Banter’ for B…

Going forward I foresee no monotony here.  And as an educational moment I found myself face-down with the letters Z and X. I reminded myself that the exercise was about listing gratefulness and I wasn’t being graded for time or a correct answer. So even though I like zebras and appreciate their uniqueness I chose not to go with the obvious Z. (I kinda cheated a bit and used Google to discover words I’ve never heard of before therefore it was most informative as to how smart I’m not. Ha!)

My results: Using all 26 letters and their assigned meaning of gratefulness I felt less engaged with my worry of the day and chuckled lovingly about my old behavior of always being in competition mode…competing against myself was an AhHa that there are behaviors that are still roaming around in my/our mind unnecessarily just taking up space!

So why not give this exercise a try the next time you want to express a Gratitude Moment. Use this to engage on a different level with yourself, challenge your mind, find ease without pressure, and add it to your toolbox of useful tips, tools, and techniques.

**Let me know by responding below as to what you discovered about yourself after doing this exercise?

With heartfelt orison benediction supplication (B for blessing),
