BACK ON THE LEDGE AGAIN
BACK ON THE LEDGE AGAIN
In order to really and truly feeling a sense of completion when we arrive at that “sweet spot” within us (you know the one in which we feel and know that “we’ve got this”, whatever it is), it’s important to learn the dance of integrating our authentic Self with how to carry that on the outside then experience how these two are intrinsically connected.
We can accomplish this by deep diving into where all the goodies reside which is in our heart space and intently observing what shows up for and how we use this daily. What we may learn and observe from this process could possibly hand us over the keys to unlocking our God given potential, allowing us to become all of whom we are meant to be.
Easy peasy, right? Maybe more like an obstacle course. We all have a penchant for getting “stuck” from time to time in our lives and maybe a lot more than we would ever wish. And as we get older the underlying urgency we feel to get unstuck grows, as does our fear and apprehension about the idea of starting a new up-to-date mind-map at ‘our’ age. So, as we ponder the idea of pushing against the sides of our safe-house to step outside our comfort zones we might find ourselves looking for someone to talk us out of this new endeavor.
The push and pull of these two opposing forces of our nature, the heart and the mind, can be incredibly stressful because they are not apt to talk and align with each other all the time. We know in our hearts that we need to pull it together and heave ourselves out of whatever rut we’ve fallen into but it’s always so easy to come up with a host of reasons and people to support why we can’t or shouldn’t.
This situation is what I call being on THE LEDGE because getting ourselves out of a pothole where we have become complacent and seemingly comfortable can really feel like standing on the edge of a great precipice, knowing that the place we really want to be is somewhere out there, but feeling terrified of taking the plunge.
I’ve been on the ledge many times before and know that I will end up there a few more times in the future with similar fears and excuses, anxieties and justifications playing like a broken record in what seems at that moment to be a very confined mind. However, I believe I’m getting a bit better in making decisions and see that when there we have only one of two choices to make. One, we can gather up our inner strength and faith in ourselves and jump, or two, we can stand on the ledge and wait for our irrational mind to calm us back into inactivity.
Possible results of choice number ONE is trusting that we will land safely, leaving behind the dishonest comfort of our fears replacing them with what the heart knows to be true which is optimism, hope and restored possibilities.
Possible results of choice number TWO is where we stand frozen against the side of the mountain ledge and wait for the tempest of fears, doubts, hopelessness and stress to die down (and they will) and wait a few more weeks until they swirl up again, like clockwork.
My question for you is what do you do when you find yourself on a ledge. Do you tackle it head on or are you a victim of the behavior in #2?
So don’t be afraid to start a conversation and share with others what you do and find out what do they do when on the ledge. Our time here is all about learning more about ourselves and to be open and unafraid while navigating our next safe landing.
